5 FALL DÉCOR IDEAS FOR YOUR DECK

One of the most exciting things about owning a new home is being able to decorate it for fall. There’s just nothing more welcoming than the warmth of fall’s colors gracing your deck.

Whether this is your first autumn in your new home or you have lived in your home for years, here are five fall décor ideas for your deck from Trinity’s home builders in Georgia that can turn your home into the envy of the neighborhood.

Idea #1: Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins

Pumpkins are the perfect fall design accessory because they’re season-appropriate, they’re festive, and they can last all autumn long as long as they’re not pierced. So, why not deck out your deck with a variety of pumpkins in all shapes, sizes, and colors? You can set them along the sides of your steps, on your tables, and just about everywhere else. Best of all, once Halloween rolls around, you can pick the biggest ones and carve them out for your home’s jack-o-lanterns.

Idea #2: Fall Wreaths

Fall wreaths capture the color and warmth of the season and they can add something special to any deck. Hand a large fall wreath on the door that leads to your deck or, for a really spectacular look, hang several fall-colored wreaths from your deck’s railings.

Idea #3: Accent with Seasonal Colors

One of the best ways to decorate your deck for fall is to introduce some of the season’s noteworthy warm colors to its design. You can do this by planting some bright mums around the deck or stick them in planters and position the flowers on and around the deck. Or, place a bowl full of red cranberries on your deck’s table for a charming touch of fall. Combined with the orange of your pumpkins, these accents will really make your deck pop.

Idea #4: Paint Your Outdoor Furniture for Fall

If you have wicker outdoor furniture, then why not spruce it up and make it more seasonal appropriate with a fresh coat of warm rusty red paint? Once dry, top them off with neutral toned pillows and surround them with pumpkins, mums, and other fall decorations. This is an affordable option for those looking for fall decoration ideas on a budget.

Idea #5: Handmade Fall Garland

This is another inexpensive decorating idea because the bulk of your materials are right there in your backyard. Before you rake up all of the leaves, take a walk around the yard and pick a bunch of the more colorful leaves and then string them together to form a garland. Then, wrap the garland around your door or wind it up your deck posts for an inviting decoration that exudes the beauty of the season. As an added bonus, this is a great project to do with your kids!

4 Ways to Stay Cool Outside This Summer

4 Ways to Stay Cool Outside This Summer

It’s summertime and this year, it’s turning out to be one of the hottest on record. As you might expect, beating the heat is one of the most common conversations people are having and it’s one of the top stories on the evening news.

At Trinity Custom Homes, we have a few tips and tricks that will help you enjoy the beautiful summer weather without having to worry about the sun turning you into a raisin. Here are four ways to stay cool outside this summer.

#1: Turn on the Watertrinity home builder

Playing in water is one of the most tried and true ways to beat the heat during the summer. And, you don’t have to invest in an in-ground pool to cool off. There are a lot of inexpensive vinyl above ground pools available to choose from, but you don’t even have to go that far if you don’t want to. For example, if you have a toddler, all you need is a cheap kiddie pool and you’ll be able to keep cool while playing with your child.

Another, more affluent option, is to have a misting system installed on your patio. Similar to what is used on the sidelines of pro sporting events, a misting system sends out an intermittent spray of mist that helps keep you nice and cool while lounging outside on hot summer days.

#2: Add Some Shade to Your Patio

A patio provides you with a nice place to chill out outside, but if it is open and exposed to direct sunlight, it will feel more like an oven than a comfortable haven. Luckily, there are several ways you can add shade to your patio.

One option is to use a large patio umbrella. This is a great option, but keep in mind if you aren’t planning on sitting at the table while you’re outside, then it might not cast shade to where you’re planning on sitting. Another option is to have a retractable awning installed over your patio. This will allow you to enjoy the sun when you want to get some extra Vitamin D, and to shade your entire patio if the sun’s rays get too strong.

Another option is to go green and add some landscape features around your patio. Planting some shade trees will add shade and beauty, but be careful where you plant them. You don’t want the trees planted too close to your home or patio or else the roots could be a problem as the trees grow.

#3: Choose the Right Patio Furniture

Some patio furniture absorbs heat easier than others. And, if you aren’t careful, sitting on one of these pieces can produce painful burns. Therefore, the type of patio furniture you have on your patio will definitely play a role in how hot or cool you are outside.

The coolest materials to choose from include aluminum, wood, and wicker. While you might think that aluminum would be hot when exposed to the sun, in truth, it is exceptionally resistant to the sun’s rays. The material’s heat resistance is why aluminum foil won’t burn your hand even after being in the oven for hours.

#4: Invest in Your Comfort and Go With an Outdoor Cooling System

An outdoor cooling system is similar to your home’s air conditioning with the exception that it is designed to cool your outdoor space. It emits a cooling breeze throughout your outdoor space, making it ideal for birthdays and outdoor dinners.

This type of system is more complex to install, so as you might expect, it is an investment. But, it is an investment that can really pay off in comfort, especially if you enjoy being outside quite a lot in the summer.
